[Updated 08/21/2008] Here are some links to sites that discuss APA style, 5th edition. If you are using my old "APA Manual Crib Sheet" be sure to check out the spiffy new enhanced version with illustrations (thanks to Doc Scribe!) updated for the 5th edition of the APA manual.
- AMERICAN PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION (APA) FORMAT (5th Edition) Examples from the University of Minnesota at Crookston
- The APA has a new site: http://www.apastyle.org/. You can order the style manual there. The manual is reportedly the APA's single most profitable enterprise. If you want a used copy, they might be available on Amazon.com in the used book section.
- The latest word on electronic reference citations from the apastyle.org web site
- APA Publication Manual Crib Sheet, September, 2004 revision [A revised version of my infamous crib sheet.]
- APA Style Essentials by Douglas Degelman, Ph.D., and Martin Lorenzo Harris, Ph.D.
- A nice guide to the 5th edition from the University of Southern Mississippi
- Mark Plonsky's "Psychology with Style: A Hypertext Writing Guide." This is an online guide to writing APA papers and research reports. It is based on the 4th edition, but it includes valuable advice for experimental reports (not just APA citation format) and it includes helpful images of a properly formatted APA paper. Remember that the 5th edition of the style manual specifies hanging indents in the reference list, and be sure to check a newer site for electronic citation formats.
- University of Wisconsin-Madison Writing Center Writer's Handbook Includes an image of a title page and pays special attention to formatting, including long quotations.
